Researchers at Sherbrooke University, Quebec, Ontario, Canada, recently found a new way to extract chitosan. According to the researchers’ work, the process allows for the production of large quantities of chitosan in a short period of time. By the end of 2003, the researchers will complete the first human clinical study to demonstrate the efficiency of their molecule, which they named Chitodextrin. The licensing process will take some time but Chitodextrin will be sold this year as a food supplement.
